art of the eye

• It’s a real eye opener. I know about many kinds of art, but never knew about the art of the eye . They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some say there is art in all our eyes. We know art is a one of a kind visual design. High power microscopes prove that every eye is unique also, with distinctive design. A company called Iris Galerie champions this revelation. They take a super close-up picture of an eye, enlarge it, and present it as a work of art. Some say the photos look like other things in nature, like insect wings or outer space. But they could be seen as abstract art. The beauty of the round iris has variation of color and texture. The composition is symmetrical, but the variations are fascinating. Folks who get one and hang it on a wall have artwork that is based on themselves, giving it personal meaning.  As a caricatures, I provide that as well. Though while I may draw a big head, I don't draw a big eye. I learned about Iris Galerie when we had a caricature booth in front of their shop at the Mystic Garlic Festival.
